Ever go through a philosophical contemplative moment where you are wondering what the heck is life….

Well I’ve compiled a list of my favorite quotes on the meaning (or lack thereof) of life:

* Life is just one damned thing after another ~ Elbert Hubbard

* Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans ~John Lennon

* Life is what happens to you while you’re working for your future ~Unknown

* Life is “trying things to see if they work” ~ Ray Bradbury

* Life is just a chance to grow a soul ~ A. Powell Davies

* Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep ~ Carl Sandburg

* Life is not a spectacle or a feast; it is a predicament ~ George Santayana

* Life is so constructed that an event does not, cannot, will not, match the expectation~ Charlotte Bronte

* Life is not a static thing. The only people who do not change their minds are incompetents in asylums, and those in cemeteries ~ Everett McKinley Dirksen
(hmmmm…..should use this on my husband next time :))

* Life is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

* Life is a progress, and not a station ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

* Life is like a cash register, in that every account, every thought, every deed, like every sale, is registered and recorded ~ Fulton J. Sheen

* Life is like a sewer. What you get out of it depends on what you put into it ~ Tom Lehrer

* Life is the flower for which love is the honey ~ Victor Hugo

* Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think. ~ Jean de La Bruyère

* Life is like nothing I’ve ever seen ~ Arthur Penn

* And in the end,

It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years ~ Abraham Lincoln
