Sorry – but my children bore me to death !

Helen Kirwan-Taylor, a 42-year-old writer talks about how she is bored to death by her kids activities

Well, my kids drive me crazy, make me mad but bored..??? Who has time to be bored with kids around ??? 🙂

She does raise a valid point about the trend towards super mothering/parenting nowadays where kids “HAVE” to be occupied every minute of the day with ballet, sports, gymnastics and other extra-curricular activities but I personally think she is going to the other extreme by having the nanny do all the “boring” activities.

Every parent especially a mother definitely needs time for herself but part of parenting is being selfless for your kids.

It IS hard but can’t we find the middle ground to parenting? ….not taking it too easy but at the same time not trying to do everything

  1. I checked out the article and I found it strange, this idea of being bored with your children. I think she’s gone to the opposite stream of parents who over-coddle their children. I was raised to be able to play on my own and entertain myself but I also had parents who played with me too. I agree with you — there’s got to be a balance that can be found.
