Kiran Desai won the Booker Prize for her novel “The Inheritance of Loss”
She is the youngest to win the award at just 35 years old after having spent the last 8 years writing her novel.
The “Inheritance of Loss” tells parallel stories set in post colonial India and the United States. In the foothills of the Himalayas, a Cambridge University-educated Indian judge spends his time as a recluse until his orphaned teenage granddaughter comes to stay.
